The 'Karam & Tamar' series is the brainchild of Hanzada Agha, a Palestinian residing in the UAE. After she became a mother to Karam and Tamar ' the adorable faces behind the namesake series ' Hanzada realized the importance of learning one's mother tongue, and the challenge parents face in the modern Arab household.
Drawing similarities between architecture (in which she is formally trained) and motherhood, Hanzada knows the importance of a solid, stable foundation. She set out in search of Arabic books for her children, but all she found were uninspiring and classically styled Arabic textbooks that lacked the quality and creativity necessary ' engaging content, exciting illustrations, and encouraging words ' all of which are necessary to hold a child's attention!
After graduating from the American University of Sharjah with a degree in Architecture in 2005, Hanzada went on to earn a second degree, a Bachelor of Science in Holistic Natural Health & Nutrition, from the University of Natural Health in Mississippi, in 2011. She is also a certified Applied Behavior Analyst.
